Flocks of visitors will soon be joined by flocks of birds enjoying the water and riverbanks of the Exe Estuary. The Dawlish Warren Refuge is active all year round. South East Devon Wildlife ask everyone to avoid these refuges from land and water to give birds the space they need to survive.

THREE teams from Dawlish Women Walking Football Club took part in the first-ever Devon League fixture at the Devon FA HQ in Newton Abbot, on Sunday, September 1. The competition, consisting of two leagues and 11 teams, will take place throughout the season at different venues across Devon.

MARINA Bowling Club in Dawlish held their annual finals competitions on the weekend of August 24 and 25. The gods were not kind on the Saturday morning with the green flooding as a result of the rain.

WATERFOWL wardens in Dawlish are continuing to monitor the safety of the town’s Black Swan population. Concerns have been raised as Bert, the main male swan, is exerting dominant behaviour towards his latest brood.

TEMPORARY banking facilities have finally opened today in Dawlish, it has been confirmed. After several years without a single bank branch, the new temporary Banking Hub is now open at the Strand Centre.

A SOFA has taken up residence in Dawlish this morning as part of an initiative to engage with residents. The snug, blow-up sofa was launched in Newton Abbot and is now moving around the district to enable anyone, from armchair critics to passers-by, to take a seat and chat to council staff and advice specialists on a range of issues.

A pub in Dawlish will remember former manager Emma Hufton this weekend with a family fundraising event for Macmillan Cancer Support. The event, at the Lansdowne, starts at 9am on August 31 with the music starting from midday.
