A ‘DEBRIEF’ is to be held following the first big national event to be staged in Dawlish. The British Cycling Dawlish Grand Prix was considered a coup for the town to be chosen to host the final race of the series for elite professional cyclists.
BOLLARDS, fencing, bunding and other physical barriers are set to be installed at locations across Teignbridge in a bid to reduce the number of unauthorised encampments. The following parks have been identified for initial works: Bakers Park; Courtenay Park; Dawlish Countryside Park; Forde Park; Osborne Park and Sandringham Park.
An architect accidentally captured the moment a pod of dolphins were playing in the water while getting to grips with a new drone in Devon. He was practicing with the new gadget off the coast at Dawlish when he captured a pod of dolphins leaping out of the water.
Mentioned on the other thread about this pub - it has been referred to as an 'uninsurable event'. Some might call it 'an act of God'. Both of which seems a load of BS as the pub was just neglected over a long period of time and the issue was well known. And yeah, bizarre how a pub is seen as a 'community asset', whereas public toilets are not.
Surely this was insured by either the owner or the brewery that owned it. Cant see how the council can help as they say thsy cannot even afford to keep public toilets open.
The pub wasn't wrecked in one solitary bad weather event. It fell into disrepair through long-term neglect resulting in a massive crack. "Before the wall collapsed a large crack, visible from the outside , had been investigated. A build-up of water may have penetrated the crevice and destabilised the cob construction."
A pub wrecked in bad weather could be put on the market and sold to the community - if they can stump up the cash to buy it and foot a massive repair bill. The Ship Inn at Cockwood near Dawlish Warren has been closed since a catastrophic structural collapse in October 2023.
Will gary taylor fight to get this done.?
