WORSENING traffic congestion in Dawlish has led to a county county councillor asking for an ‘urgent review’ of the traffic management system. Cllr Rosie Dawson has raised a complaint to Devon County Council highways asking for the A379 and Elm Grove Road management plan to be looked at again ‘due to worsening congestion’.

POLICE have repeated their appeal to help to find a man from Dawlish wanted in connection with allegations of stalking. Officers are still seeking support from the public to locate Robert Williams following an initial appeal last month.

THE MINOR Injuries Unit at Dawlish Hospital remains closed for a third successive week due to staff shortages. The closure comes as Torbay and South Devon NHS Trust has been urging people to chose the right place for treatment as its accident and emergency department has been described as ‘very busy’.

A quiz night has been hailed a success after generating more than £300 for Cancer Research UK. The event at Shaldon’s London Inn on January 11, was the first quiz organised by the Shaldon, Teignmouth, Dawlish and District Cancer Research UK committee.

THERE are now at least four eggs in the Black Swan nest in Dawlish. Mum and dad Kimba and Bert have settled now on their nest on the purpose-built island on the Brook at Tuck’s Plot after trying out two other locations.

QUESTIONS are being asked why a disruptive one-way system was introduced for traffic in Dawlish a week before any work appears to have started. Residents are complaining that the new ‘chaotic’ road restrictions in Elm Grove Road and Sandy Lane have been in force for more than a week but no one has seen any work taking place.

THE MINOR Injuries Unit at Dawlish Hospital remains closed currently due to staff shortages. The unit was closed last week and had been expected to reopen this week. Health bosses say the ongoing closure is down to staff ‘challenges’ and is asking patients to use services at Newton Abbot and Totnes.

A CASUALTY was trapped by the leg under an agricultural vehicle near Chudleigh. Firefighters from Dawlish were called to the location yesterday, Wednesday, following a call reporting a member of the public who had rolled a small agricultural vehicle, trapping them beneath it.

IT SEEMS to be third time lucky for Black Swan parents Bert and Kimba. After trying several spots and laying one egg in two locations, the breeding pair appear to have settled on the purpose-built nesting island on the Brook.
