A derelict landmark cafe on the coast path between Dawlish and Dawlish Warren has been reincarnated as a new refreshment stop in tribute to a beloved springer spaniel. Buddy’s at Red Rock opened on February 7 after months of work to renovate the dilapidated building.

TWO iconic events have been scrapped from this year’s Dawlish Celebrates Carnival due to South West Water’s extensive work in the town. It’s A Knockout, which has been run for more than 50 years, and the Pram Race, one of only a few such events in the country, will not be part of this summer’s carnival line-up, it has been announced.

AN APPRENTICE from Dawlish has described how valuable his experience has been. Matthew Sluman is an apprentice engineering technician with South West Water which has been celebrating the range of its apprentices across the company’s teams as part of National Apprentice Week.

AHEAD of work starting on South West Water’s major scheme in Dawlish, questions are being asked about the possible affect on the town’s Conservation Area status. Resident Graham Tapper has written to Teignbridge Council asking why it has had no involvement in the project.

VOLUNTEERS keeping Dawlish clean have received a welcome boost. Dawlish Against Plastic has been handed a £500 donation from a housebuilding firm to help keep Dawlish beaches clean. Formed in 2019, Dawlish Against Plastic established regular beach cleans across the town and to reduce plastic waste.
