b.o.liking and wondering I hope you have deep pockets, why? You seriously need to see the pre railway maps of Dawlish, Dawlish Warren and Starcross, the majority of developed areas were marshland. There were even flat bottomed boats that brought goods up to the bridge at Secmaton Lane for Secmaton Farm! Will have to stop the line at Dawlish Warren for Dawlish. Chucking money at the wall to be washed away is crazy. Open an inland line to Newton and yes Okehampton- Plymouth makes sense.
Reopen the okehampton line ,you cannot avoid or beat nature.

The re-routing of the Dawlish rail line closer to the sea will NOT see a popular beach lost to the public.
