You seriously need to see the pre railway maps of Dawlish, Dawlish Warren and Starcross, the majority of developed areas were marshland.  There were even flat bottomed boats that brought goods up to the bridge at Secmaton Lane for Secmaton Farm!  This means that anything below Barton Terrace would revert to marsh, as would the Dawlish ...

Will have to stop the line at Dawlish Warren for Dawlish.  Chucking money at the wall to be washed away is crazy.  Open an inland line to Newton and yes Okehampton- Plymouth makes sense.

Reopen the okehampton line ,you cannot avoid or beat nature.

A 62-year-old man has been jailed for five and a half years for running a drug supply operation in Exeter and Dawlish. The re-routing of the Dawlish rail line closer to the sea will NOT see a popular beach lost to the public. The causeway option would see the line rebuild from the tunnel at Smugglers’ Lane in Holcombe, out on to the beach past Spray Point, and then would curve back in land towards Teignmouth.
