They keep talking about "£80 million" but what he said (at least, what he wrote in the local paper) was "up to £80 million". That means "maximum £80 million", doesn't it ?

His visit was just a load of PR nonsense, we knew about these proposals a week ago.  Failing Grayling thinks that raising the sea wall a little along Marine Parade will make the Voyager trains immune from stalling, that won't work at all.  The obvious solution is to transfer the retired GWR HSTs to Crosscountry, they are 100% relaible in stormy weather, it's not bloody rocket science.  And did ...

As a Dawlish resident, who knows several other Dawlish residents who regularly use the railway, enjoying the beautiful journey and caring passionately about its future remaining in its present location as much as possible, I am rather confused (or perhaps bemused) by the above post, but definitely will not lose any sleep, or use up any further energy over it!!

I've always thought the town has no interest in the railway just want it to protect the town..maybe Netwerk Rail should build a 12 ft wall all along the track or make it a tunnel all along the seafront....that would protect the town but no sea views.
