Yes, lets not hinder the illegal transportation and import of drugs, people and guns through our ports from Europe. Even the mobile x-ray units for checking containers/trailers at U.K. ports was stopped because it was against the human rights of illegal immigrants coming into the country. The U.K. is like a ship at sea with no one to steer it and I believe there is an iceberg on the horizon.
All those lorries, all that pollution. Perhaps we should eat food that is more local to us. When I was young we ate according to the season, it was no great hardship.
During the 70s & 80s parliament thought it right that the accused in sexual assault cases were granted anonymity, perhaps because those kind of allegations carry such huge social stigma that live with the accused for the rest of their lives, even if they are subsequently found innocent. And, of course, there are the serial rape fantasists out there: ...
"there has been a fourfold increase in the number of lorries coming in and out of Britain via Kent since customs barriers within the EU were abolished in 1992." From: www.economist.com/news/britain/21720274-while-goods-european-union-pass-through-seamlessly-those-elsewhere-face-long
How did we ever manage before the single market came into effect in 1993?
I've mentioned in another thread (Food) issues concerning the movement of lorries in and out of this country when we have left the EU and how new customs procedures may impact on the fluidity (or otherwise) of their movement. I noticed in this week's Gazette that the MP for Central Devon, Mel Stride, makes reference to the Customs Bill which concerns the above and which is presently going ...
I believe the reason women are given anonymity is that a woman who is raped somehow and wrongly in my mind has a label atached to her, women who are raped get blamed for wearing the wrong clothes a typical term i have heard "she was asking for it". Hearing men talk about women i sometimes as a man feel embarrassed at the general comments they make, maybe its time for a shift change in general ...
@burneside . so anonymity should be in place for alleged sexual assault cases only? I’m not really sure that calling people “nazis” is either appropriate or very grown up. @Calamari . was your comment aimed at me alone, or to @leatash as well? Either way, what’s your view on allowing anonymity for alleged murderers, paedophiles or terrorists?
@Diana Mond The point that I was making is that there have recently been a few high profile cases where the accused's name has been plastered across the media yet the accuser (who I might add fabricated the story) remains annonamous. Does that satisfy you? Probably not. I'm certain that you will find somethig else to have a dig at.
How do you know that three men agreed with me, or is that just your usual arrogance thinking you know it all? In the 70s & 80s both parties in sexual assault trials were granted anonymity, I can see no earthly reason why that law was scrapped. When it comes to judicial matters men are second class citizens, but then that suits the feminazis.
