Memories of dancing in the heyday of the 1940s—60s seaside music scene are the focus of a new oral history project and community event that has been launched with government funding. At the Hop! will involve young people interviewing elderly folk and care home residents in Dawlish to capture their experiences and anecdotes of the dancefloor decades ago.

Class A drugs worth around £2,000 were seized after police raided a property in Dawlish. Officers from Devon and Cornwall Police carried out the warrant in October. The warrant was secured after local residents raised concerns about the address.

THE GREAT Wall of Poppies has returned to Dawlish as part of the town’s events to commemorate Armistice Day. Volunteers spent several hours decorating the bowling green railings with the Poppy Wall which has become a tradition in the town.

SOUTH West Water unveiled its extensive plans to improve water quality and reduce the use of storm overflows in Dawlish at a public information event. Proposals for the town are part of the water company’s £2.8billion five-year investment programme aimed at tackling the much-criticised use of storm overflows during heavy rainfall.

More than 2,600 people have signed petitions calling for Teignbridge Council to reverse a decade of neglect and restore the ‘jewel in the crown’ of Dawlish. The petitions were handed to a full meeting of the council by David Force of the Friends of Dawlish Brook.
