There are 66 of the Dittos houses all across Dawlish, themed to the shops they are installed on. A tourist trail of model houses made to the scale of five-inch (12cm) fictional creatures is making a return to Dawlish high street for its third year.

A spectacular 23-meter-long, Chinese-inspired dragon will form the grand finale to this year’s Dawlish Carnival parade. The dragon and accompanying lanterns are being created at open craft workshops at the Alice Cross Centre in Teignmouth with community artist Sam Lock.

A POPULAR disco for the over 60s in Dawlish continues to help local charities and good causes. The monthly knees-up aims to give the older members of the community a chance to strut their stuff.

YOUNGSTERS at a Dawlish school have been learning about policing and art. The varied experiences were enjoyed by children from Orchard Manor School, a special school which provides education for children with communication and interaction needs, autism and learning needs.

Deaf students from Exmouth excel at Dawlish Gardens Trust, earning AQA certificates. A GARDEN charity in Dawlish welcomed deaf and disabled students for work experience. A group of deaf students with additional needs from Exmouth made great strides in their vocational training when they spent time at Dawlish Gardens Trust.

A Dawlish carpenter has been recognised for his ‘remarkable dedication to swifts’ and ‘wide reaching work’ after winning the Individual Inspiration Wild About Devon Award. Jerry Horn, who set up the Devon Swift Project, said he was ‘surprised’ by the award but was pleased that the project and the swifts had received acknowledgement.

The newest addition to the Starcross to Exmouth Ferry and Dawlish Boat Trips fleet has been renamed. The owners of the Starcross to Exmouth Ferry and Dawlish Boat Trips acquired the new vessel last month after they l ost their boat, Princess Marina, to a devastating fire in November.

A programme of beautiful tunes has been chosen by director Nicholas Gardiner for Dawlish Choral Society’s spring concert on Thursday, April 10, at St Gregory’s Church. Some are well known, like Mozart’s “Ave Verum”, Bruckner’s “Locus Iste” and Faure’s “ Cantique de Jean Racine”, and supported by Italian composers like Monteverdi and T.

BUS passengers in Teignbridge are set to benefit from new changes to timetables. Dawlish and Newton Abbot and are among the areas to benefit from more frequent buses. However, several services have been withdrawn due to low demand.

An extensive search and rescue operation took place off Teignmouth last night (April 1st) following reports of a fully clothed man entering the water at Sprey Point, near Holcombe.
