All CrossCountry services that use the main railway at Dawlish line have been suspended between 4.30pm and 9pm today (Friday, November 23). The services will not operate due to forecast high winds, which can cause waves to go over the exposed sea wall at Dawlish. Shall I mention this? oh go on then. I once witnessed the same thing happening and what is more, their parents were with them. I said to one of the parents, "do you see all those stones on the sea wall, well, I nor anyone else put them there, they are washed up by the waves that your children are trying to dodge, if one of those stones hit those children someone could be in a lot of trouble". ...

Shocking footage shows a group of children dodging huge waves in Dawlish. The video was captured by a photographer earlier this week, in which five schoolchildren run along the seafront wall, getting soaked in the process. b.o.liking and wondering I hope you have deep pockets, why? You seriously need to see the pre railway maps of Dawlish, Dawlish Warren and Starcross, the majority of developed areas were marshland.  There were even flat bottomed boats that brought goods up to the bridge at Secmaton Lane for Secmaton Farm!  This means that anything below Barton Terrace would revert to marsh, as would the Dawlish ...

Will have to stop the line at Dawlish Warren for Dawlish.  Chucking money at the wall to be washed away is crazy.  Open an inland line to Newton and yes Okehampton- Plymouth makes sense.
