SUNDAY 23 June will see Dawlish Bowls Club host a second charity day- Dawlish Celebrates Carnival. The club were well supported in the first one on May 22 and it promises to be the same this time around.

BUDDING seaside entertainers will get the chance to learn from the experts thanks to a unique training opportunity. Seaside supremo and founder of Dawlish-based Promenade Promotions Tony Lidington has announced the social enterprise organisation has secured Arts Council England funding to support newcomers to the business.

A group of Dawlish shopkeepers has launched a campaign to promote the town’s unique, independent businesses and showcase the resort to residents and visitors. ‘Independent Dawlish’ was the brainchild of Julie Lister, who runs women’s clothing boutique Chic and Sassy.

DAWLISH will be playing host to one of the largest one day free music festivals in Devon. The Dark River Music Festival is back and bigger than ever. It has been organised to provide a unique community event and showcase live music.

AN appreciative and generous audience enjoyed the recent Shaldon Singers Spring Concert at St Peter’s Church - and helped a very worthy Dawlish-based charity in the process. As part of the Steam Dreams excursion, 61306 Mayflower will pass through Dawlish this Saturday (15th June 2024). NEW Mayor of Dawlish Lin Goodman-Bradbury tried out a new form of travel as part of events to celebrate National Shopmobility Awareness. Cllr Goodman-Bradbury had the chance to take a ride on a mobility scooter, one of a fleet available from Dawlish Community Transport.

BOVEY Tracey Bowls Club enjoyed another busy week of action, starting with a ladies’ triples friendly at Abbrook Park. Bovey men fared less well in the Foxlands competition, being well beaten home and away by Marina, Dawlish.

Nearly 1,000 homes in and around Dawlish were left in the dark because of a power cut. National Grid said 838 properties were without power in the area this evening. The high voltage incident lasted until 10pm.
