Has everybody been frozen in time in the county of Devon.
Nobody seems to be using this excellent website.
Or have you all departed to sunnier climes?
Wake up all you ****heads and contribute something!
It's not a discussion forum if you don't contribute to it!
Hi. If you scroll down this forum you will see my own frustration at what you describe expressed many times and in many ways! I don't know whats the matter with people here! Nobody, but nobody apart from four of us, used to contribute to discussions, and one by one we gave up and stopped bothering. Hence no discussion since 16th July.
You'll see the same phenomenon reflected in the letters page of the local rag. Very rarely does anyone send letters from Dawlish.
Its that bad that I am moving to Exeter because this place is soul-less and energy sapping. A shame because it could be so good. But short term profiteering and a local council hell-bent on keeping things the way they are will ensure that Dawlish will stay stuck in the mire.
Me again.
Looking back through the forum I see that plenty of people have viewed and presumably read the postings, judging by the high figures in brackets.
None have bothered to contribute or comment though.
Odd that.
No, the figures in brackets are the numbers of replies, often a dialogue between two people. The website isn't advertised anywhere, but even then I doubt whether anyone would contribute. Odd, I agree.
We did TRY to inspire discussion! ..in our own particular way ..but ended up with no input. I just wish now all the old messages could be removed ..what impression they give goodness knows..there is no chance for the Forum if they remain. Just my view !
If you read a message on the forum, exit, and re-open immediately you will see the viewings increase by one.
Therefore I assumed anyone could read a message and the viewing number would change without having necessarily sent a posting or reply of any kind?
Yes? No?
There are 2 numbers representing views & replies.
Mindful is refering to replies which are on the main discussion page.
The threads show views which are the number of times someone has looked at the message.
I saw the photos.
'Celts' ohmigod . 'Egyptians' ! What kak. 'Man with wheelbarrow'.
Even funnier is the fact that Mindful was covertly checking this forum every day....just poised, catlike,....waiting for it to get going again.
Thankyou webmaster.
The thread views were what I was referring to.
Some of these are very high compared to the actual replies
received. Which means many people read the letters but do not supply any input.
Anyway, my original posting has, after a lapse of a month, woken somebody up.
I like to re-read all the messages again and again and again.
Especially the funny ones. Eg mine.
So all those 'views' are just me going down Memory Lane.
I knew it!
I should have guessed there would be some vain fellow who liked to read his own messages over and over again to boost the viewing figures!
Just so that everybody else tuning in would think loads of other people had read his particular posting!
Joking apart, this is still a bloody good website and hopefully it will continue to be used to good effect.
Well, i've just stumbled across this forum. I'm looking at moving to Dawlish. Well, i've just started work in Exeter - on the outskirts near Junc. 30 and we've been looking at all the surrounding little towns and villages. We don't want to live in Exeter itself. I really like the look of Dawlish and i hope it's not as soulless as someone said it was. We want quiet, but not too quiet - i want to improve my guitar playing and start playing in a band, and we want a bit of a social life too! Should we or shouldn't we move to Dawlish? We're moving down from Telford in the midlands which is a really horrible place to live, so to us, everywhere around here is heaven!
To Jambar.
(I'm from the guest book.) In my opinion you are a damn lucky fellow if you have the opportunity to re-locate to Dawlish/South Devon. My advice to you is just do it!
I live in a crap southern town and my wife and I would love to move to Dawlish but finances and work prevent this at the moment.
We console ourselves by holidaying in Dawlish twice a year and hoping that when our daughter has finished Uni in three years time we can think seriously about moving.
Lets hope the cost of properties in Dawlish don't escalate in that time to an unreasonable level.
