A FLORISTRY academy has raised £670 for charity through flower arranging demonstrations.

The newly-founded Academy of Floristry Art, which offers flower arranging and floristry courses throughout the South West, raised funds for four charities — Macmillan Cancer Support, NSPCC, Rowcroft Hospice and Hospice Care Exeter.

The money was raised through three large flower demonstrations held at Paignton, Dawlish and Exeter and attracting 250 people.

Floral designs were created by Karen Taylor, Tina Parkes and Julie Collins.

Julie said: " We tried to inspire the audience, showing them a range of designs that could be made at home to decorate a table and more elaborate function designs. "We were pleased the designs created so much interest and it is just amazing how flowers have the power to give so much joy.

"It was good to use our talents to raise a great sum of money for charity and we would like to thanks everyone who can along."
