To spread the net wider what about resorts in North Devon. How do they compare to the South?
People I've spoken to think Ilfracombe is down market although I quite like it. Woolacombe is boring, just for the surfers, no character at all. Combe Martin is pleasant enough and because of their dramatic locations, Lynmouth will always attract tourists, so will Clovelly.
Barnstaple & Bideford, can't really comment.
I still prefer South Devon.
When I used to live in Dawlish - the idea of being posted to Bideford or Barnstaple - it would have been like living at the end of the world.
Now I do live at the end of the world, I haven't really modified that opinion.
If it was cheap there, then yeah I would consider it. But its expensive too. Porlock is nice, so is Combe Martin, Lynmouth. There's another place....is it Dulverton? Dunster? which meets with my approval.
Minehead is tatty and full of mongols going to Butlins. Barnstaple. Bideford, they're still pointless.
Hard to recommend more to Mindful, as perhaps he has to work in a certain place, otherwise i'd recommend Sherbourne or Loders in Dorset.
Certainy 300,000 for a smart property in Devon is bonkers. Yes I can afford it, but then i'd have to work, and I don't think there is much.
Dawlish Library?
