Could be a great opportunity to show how things are done properly with the cooperation of the towns folk (whether 'outsiders' or not!)

I think you may find that there are prominent members of our community who are fed up with the present situation and would like carnival week brought back to its former glory and are doing everything in there power to make it happen and i for one welcome it.

Could it be a few of the people holding a grudge against the current carnival team are good at making comments relating to what should and shouldnt be, but would have little if any knowledge of how to organise and run a public event in this day and age. It isent just a simple case of lining up a load of floats on John Nash Drive and letting them parade around the town.

It would be interesting to know if anyone on the Town council who seem to be getting involved are qualified or experienced in any way, shape or form to run such an event.

For a week of activities to be provided in line with some of the ideas previousely put foward on this topic. The organising group would need professional assistance on insurance appling for the various permits and licenses for road closures etc. Most of all they would need an army of volunters and lots of cash up front to pay for equipment and other costs.

I would like to suggest a couple of people who may like to offer their support but that would be improper, but to anyone thinking of getting involved I would say ask where the money is, because thats the main topic between success and an epic fail

MONEY MONEY MONEY MONEY and lots of it.

I'm positive there's people who can do this.  David Force seems to be involved and I think perfectly capable, especially with the enthusiasm of the town behind him.  I think to say that people in Dawlish have little knowledge of how to organise something like this is putting down what a lot of people do and used to do in their work lives as well as involvement with other events.

If the current carnival committee truly cared about their town, they would also offer their help with this and try to work amicably with the town itself.  It may be too late to raise major money at this short notice but I'm sure something can be done to put some fun into the summer.
