The evening kicked off with one of Dawlish's younger rock groups "Skatanic" whose mix of Ska beats and punchy lyrics really got the crowd going. Doing a mixture of original material and a few covers, they blasted their British interpretation of a distinctly transatlantic sound to the joy of the audience. Between bands the large 400 capacity tent grooved to the funky soul tunes of local DJ Kris Burton, who wooed the audience with slick mixes for a warm summers night. Unfortunately the next band that was due to play was unable to make it, so in true entertainer fashion the event headliners " Divided Soul " stepped in early to take the stage and really got things started. This band have been together for only 8 months, but their instant presence on stage would give you the feeling that they had been entertaining audiences for years. With a fresh rock sound, fused with blistering turntables and bound by inspired lyrics and powerful melodic vocals; this 5 piece band were something of a revelation. With the end of each original track the crowd went wild, and by the end of the 1 1/2 hour set the cries of "encore" went up, and the music erupted again with a repeat of their opening track "Leap of Faith" which must certainly be a record we will all have heard at some point in not too distant future...truly a band to watch out for.Ed.

And so, come 10.45 pm it was all over for another year. A pat on the back for the organisers (EEP), a big thumbs up to the PA providers and sound/lighting engineers. And above all a big thank you to the artists who (for free it must added!) gave one of the best live music performances Dawlish has ever seen. If you missed it, well that's a shame, but be sure to catch next years EEP same time same place, and with another top line up of the regions best new live acts.
