I'm no fan of the Torys i can assure you and I agree with you about taxes going to Bankers ect. I know this story originated months ago while this house was being built and it was run in other newspapers as well not just the Mail..   I'm also in favour for people being helped that need it. But there is no justifcation for this family to be housed in a 500 thousand pound house. It is really going ...

Lynne, this is true. But you must look at the big picture with Will and Kate. Of all the memorabilia that sold in shops ect. At least they do make a contribution to the country. Many business's are making a living from them. What is this woman contributing to the country NOTHING.

I know that this is not about Dawlish. I hope you can paste and read this article. What is wrong with this picture of UK life. I may be shot down on this but what the heck.

Railway inn

Any business be it a pub, restaurant or store. If you don't give good service whatever it may be you WILL go out of business no doubt about it.  I for one, once, and only once went to the The Railway Inn never will go back in there. The staff SHOULD not HAVE to make an effort. If any business has to rely on the short summer season they WILL go out of business they should focus more on the real ...

The Strand

Well what a commotion going on. I have been unable to check on the comings and goings on in Dawlish as I have been in the USA since May 15th so I have not as yet seen the finished product and won't see it until I'm back July 11th. Perhaps I might see it from a different angle. Ziggy any chance you could post some updated photo's please. Oh and by the way my name is John.

Hotel Restaurant

Fred, I totally agree with what you are saying, however this has been going for years at restaurants/hotels anywhere food is served. I wouldn't be surprised if this happens in Dawlish, it would be curious just to ask that question.

Hate to say it but this was forgon conclusion. You can put millions of pounds into anywhere, any town in the country. In history one classic seaside resort comes to mind and that was Morecombe in Lancashire. During the early part of the 1900s Morecombe was THE place to go up north. Then Blackpool started to emerge and since then Morecombe died a death for tourism. Morecombe saw it coming but did ...

Moving to Dawlish.

I think you are being to hard on Fredbasset.  I think he has some valid points. But then again I make the mistake of comparing Dawlish to where I lived in the USA for 30 years, but that's me, and it's hard to make changes from being able to get anything you want to not being able to get things that I have been used to. As the saying goes  " I've made my bed so I had better lie in it "  Don't be ...

The Wall
6 Jun 2013

Back in the 1980s President Ronald Reagen made a speech in Berlin to the then president of Russia and he said " Mr Gorbachev tear down this wall" This wall have become a laughing stock , no laughing matter that the traffic chaos has caused untold business losses. I think i would be safe and lay a wager that come September after the chaos from the summer months this work will then be put on hold ...
