Hands up all those who have heard/had personal experience of, what can only be described as horror stories about, the length of time (hours!) waiting for an ambulance to arrive, only for the patient concerned then having to wait hours in the ambulance to be able to get into the hospital (thus meaning the ambulance is not freed up to attend to someone else) and then having to wait hours to be seen ...

and then add in the numbers who, whilst on the payroll, are not actually at work due to sickness (stress/Covid etc). And another thing - if some of those vacancies are being filled by temporary agency staff then how much is that costing the NHS?

According to this newspaper report https://www.devonlive.com/news/devon-news/hundreds-health-jobs-need-filling-7378160&nbsp ; there are 713 NHS job vacancies within 30 miles of Newton Abbot, 347 of which are in Exeter and Torbay. 170 are in the Exeter area 177 are in Torbay
