I'm always in Dawlish and know how many people use the buses.
Either they are 'full' or 'empty' lol.. Clearly Dawlish does not want buses in the evening,..point taken.
Service 2 Exeter - Dawlish - Newton is a 'commercial' service and not supported by DCC (taxes). Even with the most modern up to date trains you will never zap through Dawlish with sharp bends at speeds of 125mph!!!!! ....If they could, I wouldnt fancy it with waves crashing on the trains! So you cant compare with other parts of the country.. First Great Western need to get the trains like Southern have ..they quietly slide out the stations..
I've never said the line should not be there .. I used the train today ..wonder how many on here did? It's not rocket science, if sea levels are getting higher as we are told and if flood happens all over again there has to be an alternative line (look up what that means lol). I would not have a proiblem with Dawlish Parkway the other side of town. Most want the railway not to use it but ...
Speed restrictions and delays again..it's about time Government got on with an alternative line. I noticed on BBC SW Polotics show last Sunday ..even UKIP said there needs to be an alternative. It's no different to two routes to Scorland west coast or east. So why not two options to Cornwall? Plymouth Labour MP said they have no opinion lol.
No reason why Okehampton and Tavistock people should not have a railway for people to go to Exeter or Plymouth for work or days out. And Stephen .. Okehampton and Tavistock has no sea to stop the train from running! Who knows people from Dartmoor may visit Dawlish by train for the day ..well once anyway!
Because of the waves hitting the trains and settling on the track, surely to electrify the line would be pointless, because it will always need to have speed restrictions so you could never make faster journeys even if the most superdupa trains. I cant see any further spend on the line happening End of the day.. the line just happens to go through Dawlish. I heard recently people around ...
