New Black Swans
27 Nov 2014

Yes, I agree thanks to the council for stepping in to purchase a couple of swans. The black swans of Dawlish are quite a tourist attraction as with all the wildfowl that live in and around the brook, it's wonderful gem for the town.  If any young are born in the near future is there any way of protecting the young one's, I don't suppose putting them in the pen would be a solution....

Bandstand
27 Oct 2014

While I'm in the USA in the town I used to live called South Riding Virginia, and taking a walk this afternoon in glorious sunshine I came across the local bandstand and thought that would look great in Dawlish. However I was having problems posting the photo on this site so it's now on Facebook Eyes of Dawlish. Strange no comments..............

Thanks Michael, The Information came from from the waterfowl warden. He explained in great detail regarding the black swans so that came directley from him. I thought the amount stated was high but who am I to contridict him. Apparentley ( Big Red ) as he called is located in the pen for his own safety and he has something wrong with his leg and all the other males have been attacking him and ...

I'm sure that the long standing residents of this town remember when there were as I'm told two dozen black swans. With everything going on in the world I'm sure that the eventually demise of the black swans of Dawlish are of little concern. When we moved to Dawlish two years ago there were ten, now only six remain all males. One that is known as ( Big Red ) remains in the pen due to an injury and ...
