Thank you Lynne.  I see that, in part-compensation, they say that from Dec 2018 , GWR "will double the frequency of services between Paignton and Exeter to deliver a 2 trains per hour service as part of Devon Metro."  We shall see.

I had one just like yours, Dan, so look out people.

DJ is right, of course, about withheld numbers.  Even Barton Surgery's calls come up as that.

It's all too easy for the timewasters to circumvent the TPS.  My best defence these days is Call Recognition - I simply don't answer to withheld numbers, overseas callers etc.  They can leave a message if they're genuine.

I've never yet quite got to the point of smashing a car window to save a dog's life, but it's come pretty close sometimes.

It was glorious down there this morning, beautiful warm sunshine, calm sea - and good to see the black cygnets still doing well. Just as BEE9 says, makes you glad to live here.

Cue letters to the papers; and maybe posts on here; on social websites: demanding a cull of the 'vicious seagulls' - all for trying to defend their babies. A friend has been waiting for months for an op that she really needs. Finally, losing patience, she decided to go private: it'll be the same surgeon, at the same hospital (Wonford), but will cost £10-11K, which she can just about afford. Now, she's still waiting.  'Oh yes', they said, 'there's so many people going private these days you still have to go on the waiting list'.

When I studied law (in the Bronze Age) the example always given was "the freedom to shout 'fire' in a crowded theatre" (when there is no fire, of course).

Certainly the Smugglers gets booked up very early for Sundays; but then it's not in the town so maybe it wouldn't suit you best anyway.  I'd agree with S's suggestion of the Marine.
