For hundreds of years, smuggling was a traditional ‘occupation’ across the South West, with Holcombe a popular area, not least at Smugglers Lane.

Anyone who has walked along the seafront between Dawlish and Teignmouth will probably have noticed Smugglers Cove, which lies at the bottom of the lane, leading up to the village.
