Agreed, I was going to say, "Grid lock first" and then tickets galore. This morning I arrived half way along the Exminster by-pass going towards Exeter at 0846, I managed to get to Countess Weir roundabout at 0923. And they are building more along that corridor which will make things a lot worse shortly by not have enough parking spaces now. So when the games start, will they open up the lawn (weather permitting) for more parking space? How many parking spaces are there at the leisure centre now?

I think this is great news, look forward to hearing more about it. Dawlish isn't just for old people

About 1000 participants are expected.

That should be manageable.  Park and ride would probably work well for this.

They're being bussed in from their regions, so traffic issues will be minimal.

Oh, so the buses are going to fly through the air and not join the horrific traffic queues on the already congested road in and out of Dawlish!! I think we might be taliking about pink pigs flying here!!

I have just driven to London to drop a friend at the M4 North Circular Junction from Heston services to the North Circular it took 1hr 50 mins to cover 4 miles it then took 1hr 45mins back to Bristol 106 miles.  I have yet to see a horrific que in this area yes at times there is a little congestion but nothing to get concerned over i am certain that will change as more houses are built but hey thats modern living, the cycle lanes are empty maybe we should all get a bike.

@leatash

As the cycle lanes are empty, then maybe the council should think about doing away with them and widening the road.  cheeky

Margaret Swift, the traffic that early on a Saturday is negligible. 20 to 25 coaches are hardly going to make much of a difference. I wonder if the people of Okehampton moaned as much as you lot when this fantastic event was held there this year???
