Why is this a shock?  It looks as if Humphrey Clemens is on the South East Devon Habitat Regulations Executive Committee or is this not the same as South East Devon Habitat Regulations Partnership?

TIme and time again it seems to me that the patients are in charge of the asylum, am I wrong!

Individuals placed on dubious pedestals with no understanding of the real world and how it works.

If these proposals are acted upon visitors and locals a like will go elsewhere, I believe.

I think that is the point Deedoodle ie visitors and locals will go elsewhere.

Trouble is though, that although that will help protect the wildlife at the Warren it will be detrimental to those who run businesses there.

Why do Teignbridge District Council HATE Dawlish so much? They do all they can to to deter visitors and do not support us in any way at all! Did you know that earlier this year they refused the Brunel Park (those iconic railway coaches that have been there since 1938) a certificate of lawfulness to run the site as a holiday park unless they proved it had been run as a holiday park previously. The new owners had to produce receipts covering the last 10 years! Fortunately, due to repeat custom, they could do so. I assume the certificate has now been issued but I don’t know for sure! Just another example of TDC blocking or deterring investment in Dawlish Warren, why?

If the plans for the car park go ahead this wonderful internationally renowned bird sanctuary will be empty, apart from the birds and the two rangers of course!

I did in some previous post talk about this very possibility was the idea of the Dawlish Countryside Park to take folk away from the Warren and me being me questioned why someone would walk there rather than the Warren. So it may be that thousands are not flocking to the Countrydide Park as they prefer the smell of salt air and the feel of sand beneath there feet so the alternative solution price them out.  Again in previous posts i have mentioned the preference of some to preserve wildlife at the cost of jobs and businesses and although i am in favour of preserving habbitat etc etc there is a point when jobs and business have to take priority over wildlife

1. The SANGS (for that is what the Countryside Park is - ask Lynne), was originally intended to be in Dawlish Warren.

2. The Countryside Park is fantastically well used.

3. More dog muck bins are being installed there.

4. I wonder if people also believe that homes take priority over wildlife?

I've just been looking at the report that has been submitted to TDC Executive committee concerning these proposals, and it seems that there is no legal environmental requirement for them to undertake what is being proposed.

Residents of Dawlish avoid the Warren at all costs during the summer months, it's a nightmare to park, an expense to pay and an overcrowded area. Not to my tasting anyway. However if the stupidty of people in office feel that charging more for parking rather than not charging anything at all during the cold and winter months, then well all I can say is, like the summer, we won't go there in the winter either.

More about all of this in this week's Gazette - see page 3.

It seems that if Natural England are involved then they have the clout to enforce these proposed car parking changes.

Birds take priority over jobs, now i am all for conservation but there has to be a balance the trouble with Natural England is they are set on a course to protect wildlife at any cost and dont care one jot about folks trying to make a living working at places like the Boat House.
