Emergency repair work is being carried out to a Devon seaside town's sea defences after a 6ft deep hole appeared during the stormy weather.

Waves continued to lash the seafront on Saturday as work began repairing the 15ft long by 6ft wide hole, which was deep enough for a man to stand in.
Teignbridge council said the current bad weather could have further damaged the promenade at Teignmouth had the Environment Agency not reacted quickly
This, accompanied with the weakening of flood defences from last year's storm which affected Dawlish badly, have led to the hole emerging.

Appreciate the emergency work, but the turf that was laid after the last storm damage has now been covered in tons of earth.
