There has been quite a lot of publicity about this planning application but I don't think anything about it has been posted on here yet.

So here's what the town council's planning committee thinks about it.

PARISH: DAWLISH WARD: Dawlish Central and North East
APPLICATION REF: 15/01559/COU OFFICER: Anna Mooney
DECISION LEVEL: DEL
LOCATION: 2 Strand Hill
PROPOSAL: Change of use from retail (Use Class A1) to taxi office (Sui Generis)
APPLICANT Mr D Hooper Teignbridge Taxis Ltd 102A Queen Street Newton Abbot Devon
TQ12 2EU
Comment: RESOLVED by the majority of Members present and voting that this Council recommends
refusal of this application due to concerns over road safety, traffic and pollution.

What shop is that? Animals in Distress?

It is yes. I saw the other day that Teignbridge Taxis already had a sign up in the shopwindow advertising for drivers etc. Somewhat presumptuous I thought. Maybe they'll appeal and win - as seems to be the way things work around here.

Doesn't seem like the ideal place for a taxi office.  I'd heard it was changing use to residential.  Obviously not!

Residential use would make far more sense Flo, that's for sure.

Click on this link http://gis.teignbridge.gov.uk/TeignbridgePlanningOnline/Results.aspx?Type=Application&Refval=15/01559/COU

and then on Associated Documents to the bottom left of the page. You should then get access to all the planning docs relating to this planning application (including the many objections that have been lodged concerning it).

What they should have done.. just put a few items to sell in the shop, anything, to keep it as retail and a notice in the window call in here if you want a taxi. Simple.

I noticed a few weeks back that all the signs saying that it was going to be a new taxi office and asking for new taxi drivers suddenly disappeared.

All seems to have gone quiet on this.

It hasn't gone to planning committee yet.

Some more objections have been lodged recently including one by Michael Clayson with which I whole heartedly agree.

Have a read of it. Document dated Monday 27th July 2015.
