Am I right in understanding this - someone has pitched up at the Rock Pool Cafe site and is trading there?

Yes it seems like the people from Pirates Chest by the viaduct and used to trade at Coryton Cove are doing a mobile service

On this subject this is what "gorgeous george" thinks of Dawlish and the locals....from his facebook ( for which he seems to be trying to hide by changing his surname from holman to pythe ) , not so much goreous but vile.

Dates of interst:  14th July with comments ,  12th July with comment , plus picture 16th Feb 2013.

Im sure these will soon be removed/hidden once mummy has seen/been told of this.

As a foot note so much for losing all life savings when one can afford to rent/buy a place in camden and this while the fund me page is still running!

Okay, slight tangent but still relevant to this thread (I think).

Was down in the town the other day and took a look along the seafront.  Now, unless work has been done on the Pirate's Chest (that's the Pirate's Chest by the viaduct just to be clear) between then and as I type this, it is still looking one all mighty mess. Who is responsible for its maintenance? TDC? Network Rail? or the leaseholders?

It's great news that work is progessing on replacing the burnt down Rock Pool Cafe with a new structure. The sooner the better!

Have the people from the Pirates Chest got a licence to trade from Coryton Cove? I'm sure Merlin and/or Annother can help.  If they haven't got a licence, I'm pulling up a chair and opening a bag of popcorn...

Both of Daisy2's posts on here (2 years apart) have been about the same subject. Why Daisy2 would be stalking the Facebook page of the young son of the Rock Pool Cafe owners is a bit weird though.

Daisy2, you want us to trawl through a young lad's FB page to find derogatory comments about the locals?  Gorgeous George, as you freaky people call him, could have a point.   Don't you realise all these sinister one-off anti-Holman posts are only making Pirate's Chest people look bad?   With friends like you who needs enemies.

@Judith Chalmers i have only made a couple of remarks on here as i'm only a visitor on holiday as and when i can afford to travel, as for stalking you must have a sad life to think that. i was only trying to find information about the kiosk as nothing apart from rumours was being said on this forum and the most logical place to look was the tentants pages to see if anything about it was there. what i found was disgusting and rude to the people who have pledged thier help and support to him and his family.

I was recently in St Ives (Cornwall) and was absolutely disgusted by it. The seafront there was littered with friendly little pubs, independent artisan food traders clogging up the promenade, restaurants selling local food all over the place, families hanging out together and not screaming/shouting at their brattish children. There was a distinct lack of morbidly obese topless men too and more significantly - nowhere could I buy a large portion of (incorrectly spelt) lard- or sugar-based food.

Daisy2 seriously thinks any sensible person would believe her 'innocent face'?   She happens upon the son's Facebook page (not the Rock Pool Cafe page), works out he's the son even though his user name is not Holman, knows it was Holman in the first place to know it has changed,  carefully details the dates of his posts, makes a snide comment about 'mummy', gets a dig in about affording a place in Camden and the donations fund, and then gets protective of Dawlish people even though she's not from Dawlish.   And quite by chance her only other post was praising the Pirate's Chest.   I'm only surprised TDC's clearance operation didn't get a mention.

Not very bright these Pirate's Chest wellwishers are they?

A question. Quite possibly a naive one but a question nontheless.

Why don't all those who are so supportive of the Pirate's Chest (that's the one by the viaduct) do something a tad more positive in terms of helping those who run it by, for example, doing something to improve its appearance?

Why are people so horrible about the Rockpool Cafe and the Holmans. Bob lost out with his tender fair and square. He didn't provide the kind of service and food that the Holmans did. I am unaware of any begging from them. People offered help, like a good community would. I have no axe to grind, but am shocked by some of the vitriol spewed out by people who obviously do have some axe to grind.

Hi Daisy92 George Holman here Just so you know you obviously don't know me atall yes my name is George Pythe on facebook it hasn't been Holman for a long time I change it on the regular to whatever im into at the time! It has been video game characters, comic book characters, I even toyed with George RRRR Martin for a while you see im abit of a nerd and things like that amuse me and make me smile if you want the honest truth :) JUST To clear that up for you I have absolutely nothing to hide so what makes me so vile exactly? Please im curious to hear what you know about me that I obviously don't! Why don't we have a nice conversation and maybe we can even get to the bottom of this and clear this up lets start now.

Hello there my name is George Holman and who might you be exactly? If you don't mind saying and likewise have nothing to hide :)

George, you don't need to explain yourself.  Merlin, Annother and Daisy are likely just the one person, and if they're not, you only have to click on their previous posts to see they've only been on this forum before to support the Pirate's Chest.  That's some coincidence.

As upsetting as it might be, don't feel like you're under siege, you're not.  The BS detector is working fine, no one ever took them seriously. Stay cool.

I am not Merlin or Daisey and have at no time supported the pirates chest nor do I know the holmans  however I do reject the spending of public money on a business folly and after bothering to ask a Policeman about the fire at coryton cove I have been told it was not arson if this is not the case and the police are saying different now lets hear it

if the Police have the veiw that it is arson I will donate to the fund and say no more about the matter however if it is not I will continue to campain as why the public are picking up a bill for a business

Right, so your beef seems to be:

1. A query concerning the origins of the fire and a wish for definitive proof/ a statement from the Fire Service and/or the police with regard to how they believe it started.

2. Concern that public money is being spent in a way that it should not be.

Am I correct? Have I left anything out?

Other than continuing to post on here and repeating yourself again and again I wondered what else you might more positively and fruitfully be doing to achieve (1) and bring the public's attention to (2).

Lynne I think the Holmans have made it perfectly clear that they did not wish any fund to be started and have not taken any money from that fund, and will not be doing so. Public money was not used in the clearance of the site, that was money from Insurance Company and money from Insurance Company will be used in the rebuild. Several business in Dawlish have had clearance and refurnish jobs done due to the storms from Insurance Companies. TDC are the Client not the Holmans, they merely rented and TDC were their Landlords, for the life of me I cannot understand why Another cannot grasp this, although we all can. I think we maybe best not answering him/her and then maybe they will crawl back under their stone

Yes I know what the Holman's have said. I have no problem accepting what they have said. However, it seems that is not the case with all who post on here...........

So........if annother46 (and any others for that matter) have a problem with the Holman's version of events then I believe it is up to Annother46 to prove that what the Holman's are saying is incorrect.

As I have said to Annother46 on an earlier post of mine - put up or shut up.

I think he/she has no intention of understanding all this , hell bent on making their lives a misery. Surely it makes no difference if it was arson or an accident, they lost their livelihood into which they had put a lot of hard work. The person concerned is an imbecile, who is enjoying most probably all this debate to give them some weird pleasure

TDC pay for insurance to cover the public assets with public money any claim made TDC will load following charges for insurance just like your car or house insurance if you claim more you pay more

you right quite right to say TDC are the client so why would the insurance company pay to remove waste that did not belong to thier client ? is there a clause in the lease did the tenant pay for insurance with the rent ? TDC could'nt confirm this.

You clearly have not talked to TDC about this matter or you would know that the insurance company are paying out for a wooden shed that had in most been clad in meatal box profile sheets this will not cover the cost of a new building to current building standards so where does this shortfall come from ? (I did hear last week that we are to lose some sheltered housing next year so some money saved there)

yesteryday the webmaster asked a question on your other thread why don't you ask a policeman and pass the answer to the webmaster on your other thread ?

So, Annother46, and again as I have said before, if you wish to make the points you make above public and be prepared to put your real name in the public arena, why not write a letter to the Gazette instead of continually and repeatedly raising the same issues on here hiding behind a posting name ? After all you're only raising matters concerning the public purse aren't you? Well, aren't you? And surely you would wish more people to know of such concerns?

Walked to Coryton Cove today and saw a strange mobile cart selling drinks and advertising on their menu board bacon baps and sausage baps, I was intrigued. How were they going to serve food without a cooker or oven. I soon got my answer. A sprightly young girl came nipping out of the pirates chest carrying two food containers that keep food hot. Then she nipped into a mobility scooter, and scooted off down to Coryton cove. Sneaky or what.?
