and now it seems there's a problem with the Exeter/Waterloo line at Crewkerne which will take  at least a week to resolve.

I was in London this time two weeks ago. Travelled by train there and back from Dawlish via the Exeter Waterloo line..............

I go up to London most weeks for my work and have used that line since the work on the Whiteball tunnel as FGW sent most of their trains that way. I was told on Thursday by rail staff that the work on the Whiteball tunnel is overrunning by two days so it will be chaos on Monday and Tuesday as all the FGW trains will have to start from Taunton. My journey was already going to be around six hours but now it would be a lot longer so I am not going. Thanks for the information as I have been able to let my senior staff know and my visit will be cancelled.

@ Margaret. When you say rail staff do you mean platform staff(FGW)   or engineering workers( Network Rail) ? Just asking.
