Rainbow1 & Dallas,

You must know that your last long discussion thread is in breach of the terms of this forum.

Therefore, please be warned that if either of you continue to breach the rules, I will have no choice but to terminate your account.

Regards,

Webmaster

Flaming other members with the apparent intent of inciting or perpetuating a conflict or argument.

Bombing the forum or individual threads with repetitive, pointless posts.

Posting personal e-mail or chat dialogues.

Admittedly Rainbow1, you did not start the thread. However, I think users would prefer that you wrote in the version of English we all learnt at school, rather than the phonetic version you have invented or adopted, which is just hard to read.

When someone posts something personal directly to or about another user and the other user replys, and there is a continuation of personal posts between the 2 users, then this is classed as a chat dialog.

Dallas's thread may not have breached this term, but I put it there to remind you and others.

I hope this clarifies it for you Rainbow1.

The only thing I would add to this is that I think plain old common sense, respect and courtesy to other users should be enough guide you on how to use the forum.

@webmaster

I can think immediately of two novels containing invented language, "A Clockwork Orange" and "Cloud Atlas."

I don't think that the form in which she presents her posts should be an issue unless you were to say the same to someone writing in Chaucerian English, for example. It would be no easier for most people than Rainbow's.

@Don Pearson

Also, the anglicised Scots used in Trainspotting was hard going at times but the book better because of it, so I agree it can sometimes add rather than subtract.

I'm not saying I'm going to ban Rainbow1 because of this. I'll have a think about it and also leave it up to users to discuss.

@webmaster - can you just delete the "cock" thread so we can start again afresh.

@Don Pearson - agree completely that strange language can be hard-going at times but that's not a reason to ban it. as long as the content doesn't infringe people's rights and liberties then freedom of speech (in whatever form) should hold. have you read any robert heinlein?

Normally I try very hard not to delete posts unless I really have to, but in this instance I think everyone would agree that the thread is irrelevant (among other things) and so I have deleted it.

Blast! Deleted before I read it.....

On the subject of invented language, I bought a book called The Book of Dave which had it's own language in it. I gave up - found it too tedious to even bother with - may well have been a good story but never got to it, I find the same with Rainbow1's style of posting sadly.

I fully support webmaster in this, I don't have any issues with the 'language' but flaming isn't acceptable and achieves precisely nothing in a forum intended for discussing local issues. I am a member of other international forums where quite serious 'abuse' takes place but these are totally different, mainly technical forums, but this isn't acceptable in a forum where local people discuss local issues.

Webmaster, I find most of Rainbow's posts irrelevant, distracting and agressive. His/her language doesn't bother me, but I get the feeling that Rainbow is just having a good laugh at Dawlish.com's expense. And Dallas doesn't help by being agressive and swearing in reponse. Personally, I would ban Rainbow and warn Dallas.
